Calling All Belcaro Veterans:
The Veteran’s History Project was created by Congress to collect, preserve and make
accessible personal accounts of American war veterans. The project goal is to ensure that
future generations hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war.
Volunteers from the American Red Cross are making it easy for veterans to participate. We
are in the process of setting up a time for them to come to Belcaro and conduct interviews.
Each interview will be sent to the Library of Congress. Each veteran will be given a
webpage dedicated to them. Veterans will receive a DVD copy of the interview. Please see
me as soon as possible if you are interested in participating.

Walking with Vanessa:
.The Hidden Benefits of Walking: You can see the results of all those walks in your mirror.
But walking also improves your health on the inside. It improves cholesterol levels,
protects your bones, eases back pain, controls blood sugar, and it’s good for your brain.
What are you waiting for?  Grab your sneakers and head over to the Grove House. We walk
every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00 a.m.  Are you a slow walker, fast walker, long or short
walker? There is a spot for you on our walking “team”.

Going to the Grove House:
This is such a unique community. There are so many activities and events going on. Many
new residents have arrived these past few months and I want to encourage them to get
involved. If you have put off starting an exercise class, there are no more excuses. We have
Water, Chair, Tai Chi, Yoga, and Walking classes. The ladies get together several days a
week to play mah jogg and every Wednesday afternoon you can find the bridge players in
deep concentration. The “boys” get together twice a week to play poker and the bocce ball
courts are filled with neighbors trying to one up each other. The social and travel
committee meet once a month and the men’s club enjoy bagels together every Saturday.
We have bingo, bunco, pinochle, movie night, and of course happy hour every Friday night.
The social committee hosts wonderful events and you are always welcome take a trip to a
fabulous location with the travel club. Our Belcollege seminars are always informative and
fun. We have a book club, a biking group, and a Spanish club. Please take the opportunity
to enjoy all that the Belcaro lifestyle has to offer. Check the calendar for dates and times.
